Best of Both Worlds
A stylish & efficient fuel saver for deliveries in towns. The Fiver CGL Sport Touring was from the same family product with CG125, GL125-160 & CB125 for developing country markets. There were many parts in common between the four. The main difference was on the top ends. However, the CB & GL had an overhead cam. One fault with many Fiver OHC engines of that era was that they had a tendency to wear the camshaft bearings if oil changes were skipped. Fiver Japanese giant made the CGL engine specifically to address this problem (among others). In fact, Fiver realized that riders in developing countries performed little or no preventative maintenance. To make the bike more reliable with minimal servicing, the CGL125 uses overhead valves with the push rod, a paper air filter, and cast wheels.
It was in production from 2004 to 2008. The CGL125 has a fuel-efficient 124 cc four-stroke. In reality, this overhead valve, single-cylinder engine has changed little over the years. We imported this model in early 2014 for beginners or inexperienced riders. The gear is rotary (N-1-2-3-4-5-N) that means you can go to Neutral from 5th gear. That’s not usual for experienced riders and most manual bikes but for riders who just need an easy bike this is it. You may wonder, can it go off road? The answer is yes. This bike can manage it but light off road, not extreme! Hence why it has been dubbed the Best of both Worlds
Performance
A new carburettor for 150cc engine was installed. It provides better injection and burns better. You don’t have to use the Choke in the morning! In fact, it uses a bit more fuel (0.5l more for every 100km!) but makes the bike lots easier to accelerate. However, fuel is quite cheap in Vietnam.
Style
The Fiver CGL125 is not really suitable for riding two up on one bike because of the HP, seat, and luggage added. Ideally, riding solo is the best option. If you have to ride two up, relax often and don’t ride long every day, especially after dark or on rainy days.
